News

Calling all hack-enthusiasts!

Kontomatik is organizing its first-ever hackathon next month for a group of talented, tech-savvy participants, who want to put their analytical skills to the test.

Apply as a single person or as part of a two or three-person team and compete at the event on May 28 to win up to 5,000 PLN in prizes.

About the event

The challenge will be the practical application of machine learning in the analysis of banking data. Kontomatik’s data science team will kick off the event at 9:30 at the company’s offices in Wola with a short instruction and presentation about the problem participants will need to solve. Participants are highly encouraged to bring their own equipment, although Kontomatik will also be providing equipment here such as desks, monitors, chairs or computer mice.

After the introduction, participants will receive a set of banking data, which they must use to solve an analytical task by implementing the classifier with the highest predictive power. Participants can use any programming language they prefer. Each piece of information and each transaction in the set of data comes from real bank accounts. Further details on the assignment will be published on the day of the competition.

Our Data Science team will be on site all the time, providing guidance and supporting participants in developing solutions. Participants will also get free food and drinks throughout the day until the event ends at 5 p.m.

Application and prize details

We plan to award prizes to three teams (or single people) who we believe solved the task best. The prizes will be:

First place: PLN 5,000

Second place: PLN 2,000

Third place: PLN 1,000

Registration starts on May 9 and ends on May 23 this year. A link to the short form will be available on the website and Kontomatik’s LinkedIn profile. We will choose 25-30 people from the group of applicants to participate. We will inform them of their selection by e-mail and / or by telephone, in accordance with the data provided in the application form.
